ASPEN, Colo. — Actress Sally Field and her family escaped serious injury Saturday when a private jet aborted a takeoff and smashed into two parked planes at the Pitkin County Airport, authorities said.
Field, 46, was en route to Burbank with her husband Alan Greisman, 41, her 11-month-old son Sam and mother Margaret O’Mahoney, said Pitkin County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Crockett.
Crockett said the jet, owned by entertainment mogul Merv Griffin, lost power about 2 p.m., traveled across the grass and ran into two jets parked on a ramp, according to Jeff Lumsden in the Pitkin County sheriff’s office. The flight crew was treated and released for minor injuries at a local hospital.
