A special meeting of Farmers Group shareholders was called for 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 in the Beverly Hilton Hotel to vote on the company’s proposed acquisition by Batus Inc. of Louisville, Ky. Los Angeles-based Farmers said the merger will close Dec. 16. if the remaining regulatory approvals are received in time. Shareholders of record Nov. 7 will be eligible to vote on the $5.2-billion takeover, which calls for cash payments of $75 for each share of Farmers common stock.
