The body of a young woman believed to be the victim of a drug overdose was found early Sunday outside an apartment complex in Northridge, Los Angeles police said.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, was discovered by a passer-by in a carport outside an apartment house in the 19000 block of Bryant Street about 2:30 a.m., said Sgt. Bob Knapp of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division.
The woman, described as about 18 to 20 years old, apparently died of a drug overdose, Knapp said, adding that there were no signs of violence.
He declined to elaborate on what kind of drug may have been involved but said the area where the woman was found is known as “a narcotics users’ hangout.”
It was not immediately known if the woman was a resident of the complex, he said.
