Our long national nightmare is over! All 179 1/2 excruciating hours of wretched excess, provided by NBC (National Birdbrain Corp.) and every advertiser known to humankind. Even the 3-hour Tuesday-night highlights are over.

Now, who is willing to contribute to the ABC Olympics fund, so we can be assured of professional, comprehensive and intelligent coverage in 1992?

Oh, and not to forget that KNBC proved that you do not need locally based newscasters (a.k.a. the KNBC Klowns) to have a local newscast. How absolutely thrilling to see L.A. news, let alone the weather, introduced and commented on from a time zone one day removed. Ah, the future is now!
