A Connecticut state senator has urged TV talk show host Phil Donahue to consider donating land adjacent to his waterfront home in that state for a residence for AIDS victims. Sen. Fred H. Lovegrove Jr.(R-Fairfield) said the land along Long Island Sound offered an ideal location for AIDS sufferers. “You have often spoken of your concern for AIDS victims on your television show. I am writing to ask you to help them out a little closer to home (in Fairfield),” Lovegrove wrote Donahue in a letter released Monday. The foundation is facing stiff opposition to its plans to open a residence for victims of acquired immune deficiency syndrome at another location in Fairfield. A Donahue spokeswoman said Tuesday that the host’s production company had not yet received Lovegrove’s letter.
