WASHINGTON — Smaller crops of some fruits will mean fewer cans on grocers’ shelves in the coming year, the Agriculture Department said.
The department’s Economic Research Service said those crops include apricots, clingstone peaches, Bartlett pears and apples. Moreover, it said in a new outlook report, smaller inventories already on hand “will keep most canned fruit supplies tight again this season.”
