Local News in Brief : Man Trying to Halt Argument Is Slain

A North Hollywood man who interceded in an argument between a woman, her common-law husband and her daughter early Sunday was shot to death by the woman, police said.
The 20-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, had been trying to end a dispute between Sandra Galindo-Marroquin, 35, her common-law husband, Manuel Renteria, 37, and her 17-year-old daughter about 3:45 a.m., said Los Angeles Police Detective Mike Coffey. The family was arguing in front of their apartment complex in the 5500 block of Klump Avenue.
Coffey said Galindo-Marroquin shot the man during the argument. He said the victim lived with the woman and her daughter. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, he said.
Galindo-Marroquin was arrested on suspicion of murder, Coffey said.
