Local News in Brief : Countywide : Toll Road Planners Seek Public’s Input

The agency planning the Eastern tollway--a road that would run from the Riverside Freeway near the county line to the Santa Ana Freeway near the boundary between Tustin and Irvine--will hold a citizens meeting Wednesday to discuss development of the project’s environmental impact statement.
The Transportation Corridor Agency has set the meeting for 7 p.m. in the Foothill High School cafeteria, 19252 Dodge Ave., Santa Ana.
The environmental document is necessary under federal law, which also requires public involvement to help determine where interchanges will be built, the number of lanes and the exact route, officials said.
Residents in several neighborhoods oppose routes tentatively selected for the two-legged southern terminus of the toll road. One leg would connect with the Laguna Freeway at the Santa Ana Freeway; the other would end at the Santa Ana Freeway near Jamboree Boulevard.
