Local News in Brief : Principal Returns to School

Inglewood High School Principal Lawrence Freeman returned to work Thursday, a week after a confrontation with incoming Supt. George McKenna that resulted in Freeman being ordered not to report to work and a protest from parents and students.

McKenna said Thursday that Freeman had been returned to his post to ensure that the school runs smoothly. He said Freeman, who on Monday was told by administrators to stay home during an investigation of last Thursday’s dispute, had not been disciplined or admonished. He described it as a “cooling-off period.”

Freeman said Thursday that he is happy to be back at work. He said he is willing to work with McKenna, but said he had been humiliated without cause and is awaiting a resolution of the matter.

McKenna said he will talk to Freeman soon about the incident.
