Five Die as Burglar Bars Block Firemen

DALLAS — Fire raced through a house today as firefighters struggled to break through burglar bars blocking the windows, and three young children and two teen-agers were killed.
Authorities said the blaze began shortly after 4 a.m. on the city’s south side. Firefighters got there in just a few minutes but were unable to get into the home quickly because of the bars. All the victims were found in and around one bedroom.
