More than 100 million Africans, or one in four, do not get enough food to fuel an active working life, and the situation is getting worse, a World Bank report said. The study defines as “food insecure” those who do not get the minimum of 2,200 calories a day that humans require to be able to work. The study, released at a conference in West Berlin, lists Ethiopia, buffeted by wars and drought, as having the largest number of “food insecure”--14.7 million.
