Tustin police on Sunday were investigating an accident in which an officer was injured when his patrol car, in pursuit of a burglary suspect, collided with another car at an intersection.
Officer D. Wyatt, who was driving the patrol car with lights and siren on at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, received minor injuries and was treated and released at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, Police Officer Bryan Meder said.
Wyatt was westbound on Irvine Boulevard, passing through the intersection with Yorba Street, when the collision occurred. The police car spun into a brick planter in the center of the street, Meder said. The other driver, who was not identified, was not injured, he added.
Wyatt had been pursuing a burglary suspect who was driving a West Coast Cab taxi. The taxi, which had been stolen Friday in Santa Ana, was recovered early Sunday, but the suspect remained at large.
