City Section Football : El Camino Real Snaps Winless Streak at 24

El Camino Real cornerback Pete Pistone intercepted a David Wein pass at the Westchester 49 with 3 1/2 minutes remaining to clinch a 6-3 victory Friday as the Conquistadores ended a 24-game winless streak dating to 1985.
Trailing, 3-0, the visiting Conquistadores drove 40 yards in 10 plays to score on quarterback Steve Smith’s 3-yard run with 32 seconds left in the third quarter.
Westchester had taken the lead on a 32-yard field goal with 48 seconds remaining in the first quarter. The kick was set up by safety Victor Darrensbourg’s interception at the Comet 32 and a 54-yard run by Tim Holliday.
Running back Leo Matsuda led El Camino Real rushers with 91 yards in 28 carries; Smith added 27 yards in 10 carries and completed 1 of 3 passes for 37 yards with 1 interception.
