The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday accepted a $325,000 federal grant to provide cold weather shelter for the homeless.
Under the plan, shelter will be provided in two armories in the county, one in Long Beach, the other in Culver City. In addition, vouchers for hotel and motel rooms will be given to other homeless people not near the two armories.
The shelter program will take effect when temperatures are forecast at below 40 degrees or 50 degrees with a 50% chance of rain.
