A third person has died as a result of a collision Friday afternoon between a passenger car and a bus carrying University of Kentucky football players in Indiana.
Jean Carver Stone, 66, of Louisville, Ky., died at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. Another passenger in the car, Margaret Steele, 61, of Raleigh, N.C., remained in the critical care unit at a Bloomington hospital.
The women’s husbands, Charles Stone, 70, and Charles Steele, 73, were killed when Stone’s car crossed the center line and went into the path of the bus, according to a dispatcher at the Indiana State Police post in Bloomington.
None of the 36 athletes aboard the bus was injured in the crash, which occurred as the Kentucky team was traveling from Lexington, Ky., to Bloomington for Saturday’s football game against Indiana University.
