High School Roundup : Agoura Dominates Cross-Country Meet

Junior Bryan Dameworth led an Agoura sweep in a nonleague cross-country meet Wednesday at Paramount Ranch in Agoura, covering the 3-mile course in exactly 16 minutes.
Led by Dameworth, Agoura (21 points) easily defeated Buena (49) and Simi Valley (74) in the boys’ competition.
Brothers Derek Kite (16:56) and Jason Kite (17:34) of Agoura finished second and third in the individual scoring.
In the girls’ competition, Agoura again went 1-2-3 individually behind Tiffany York (20:30), Tally Rowland (21:01) and Cheyenne Zontelli (21:37).
Agoura defeated Buena, 19-45, in the team scoring.
Camarillo 15, Rio Mesa 48--The Scorpions swept the first six places en route to the convincing victory in a nonleague dual meet at Camarillo Grove Park.
Juniors Chad Malesich, Abe Valdez and Shawn Goetzinger crossed first, all covering the 3-mile course in 15:54. Junior Joel Gonzalez was fourth in 16:39, followed by sophomores Scott Stringer in 16:53 and Josh Gerry in 17:20.
Rio Mesa’s Mark Gruber finished in 17:27 for seventh place, just ahead of teammate Darren Lasky, who was timed at 17:29. Rio Mesa’s record is 0-1. Camarillo is 1-0.
Sophomore Katie Meyer led the Camarillo girls’ team to a 21-34 season-opening win. Meyer placed first in 20:45.
VOLLEYBALL
Campbell Hall d. St. Monica, 15-2, 15-3, 15-8--Tanya Mathews had 4 kills, 4 blocks, 14 service points and an ace for Campbell Hall in the nonleague match at Campbell Hall.
Abby Ackroyd added five kills and seven service points for Campbell Hall (2-1).
Canyon d. Glendale, 11-15, 2-15, 15-6, 15-9, 15-6--Canyon (1-0) rallied from a two-game deficit behind 11 kills each from outside hitter Ashley Ayers and middle blocker Jill Bussard in a nonleague match at Glendale.
Outside hitter Michelle Ferran had 10 kills and sophomore setter Dianna Soto served 21 points for Canyon.
Newbury Park d. Agoura, 15-10, 17-15, 15-5--Senior outside hitter Julie Cutright had 7 kills and 10 digs to lead the Panthers (3-0) in a nonleague match at Newbury Park.
Susan Pasquini had a team-high three blocks and sophomore Erin Mutch rallied the Panthers by serving out the final three points in the second game.
Royal d. La Reina, 13-15, 15-10, 15-6, 15-10--Outside hitter Carina Sailer had 12 kills and 4 services aces and outside hitter Stephanie Champ had 10 kills, 7 aces and 13 service points as Royal improved to 2-0 with a nonleague win at La Reina.
Royal setter Amy Sodek had 20 assists.
WATER POLO
Thousand Oaks 8, Agoura 7--Dave Dickson scored three goals, including the game-winner with 1:13 remaining in overtime, to lift the Lancers in a nonleague match at Agoura.
Phil Brock also scored three goals for Thousand Oaks (1-1), which won despite going scoreless in the fourth quarter.
