Garner, who missed a 31-yard field-goal attempt early in the third quarter, set up the Eagles’ second touchdown by recovering a Dan Stepper fumble at the L. A. Baptist 34. Three plays later, wingback Todd Creason ran 18 yards on a counter play for a touchdown.
Quarterback Gary Silverman, who missed on his first eight pass attempts, accounted for the final Eagle score with an 85-yard bomb to Brian Kane late in the fourth quarter.
The closest L. A. Baptist came to scoring was Kurt Rayner’s 38-yard field-goal attempt with 44 seconds to play.
