The Life You Save May Be Your Own

My heart certainly goes out to the Dunham family that suffered so much in the freeway accident (Sept. 1). It seems the driver that struck them failed to realize that they were stopped or traveling very slowly.
The new high-mounted brake lights are a well-intended addition to highway safety. This tragic accident might not have occurred if all brake lights automatically come on anytime the car is traveling slower than 5 m.p.h. regardless (of whether) the brakes are actually on or not.
