Killer Balloons

Balloon spectaculars such as described in Footnotes (“Gets Bang Out of Balloons,” Aug. 29) are not all fun and profit. The somber side is the worrisome effect of this balloon mania on sea life. Frequently the balloons float out over waterways and out to sea, where eventually many are ingested by sea mammals and fish, causing their deaths.
