Eighty-five of the top 100 ranked men’s tennis players have signed a letter of commitment to play on the Assn. of Tennis Professionals tour in 1990, the ATP announced.
The ATP last week said it would sponsor its own tour, citing its limited voice on the Men’s Tennis Council, which oversees the Grand Prix circuit.
Of the world’s top 10 players, only Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors had not signed the letter, but both have said they believe the players should be in control of the sport.
