Indian Skimmer, a 4-year-old filly trained in England, survived a post-race inquiry to win the $308,000 Phoenix Champion Stakes at Dublin, Ireland.
The winner was ridden by Michael Roberts, who replaced injured jockey Steve Cauthen.
Shady Heights was second, three-quarters of a length back, and Triptych third, another length behind. Persian Heights, the 2-1 favorite, finished fourth in the 1-mile race.
Shady Heights’ handlers called for an inquiry, but the stewards, after watching a replay, let the result stand.
