Portland State Settles for Stalemate, 31-31
SPOKANE, Wash. — Portland State quarterback Chris Crawford threw for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Eastern Washington’s Jamie Townsend ran for 114 yards and 2 scores as the Vikings and Eagles played to a 31-31 tie Saturday night.
Portland State’s Curtis Delgardo ran for two TDs, including an 84-yard run, and caught a third in the nonconference opener for both teams.
Portland State freshman placekicker J. J. Brumfield missed on a 19-yard field-goal attempt with 1 minute, 45 seconds left.
Eastern Washington running back Vernon Williams ran 27 yards for a TD with 13:31 remaining to tie the score. Quarterback Scott Stuart missed on a desperation pass to receiver Jamie Buenzli as time expired.
Eastern Washington defensive back Dominic Corr was responsible for three of Crawford’s four interceptions.
