Emmy will have a new home in North Hollywood.
Construction will begin in October on an eight-story office building and adjacent retail and parking facilities, at 5200 Lankershim Blvd. that will house the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Completion is scheduled for March, 1990.
This is the first phase in a project that will eventually cover four city blocks and have four office buildings, a hotel and several hundred apartment units.
The project is a joint venture of Kumagai Gumi, of Tokyo, and Kensley Partners, of North Hollywood. A $36.2-million first-mortgage construction loan was arranged by Sonnenblick-Goldman Corp. from, what industry sources say was Sumitomo Bank.
McLarand, Vasquez & Partners Inc., of Costa Mesa, is the architect. Kumagai Gumi is the prime contractor.
