Jailed black nationalist leader Nelson R. Mandela, recovering from tuberculosis, told South Africans not to worry about his health. Rennie Mandela-Perry, his former daughter-in-law, and his 14-year-old grandson, Mandla Mandela, paid a 40-minute visit to the 70-year-old African National Congress leader at Cape Town’s Constantiaberg clinic. Afterward, Mandela-Perry told reporters: “He said he had some fluid removed from his lung, but it was functioning quite well now. He says that the people don’t need to worry about his health.” Mandela-Perry, who is divorced from Mandela’s son, Makgatho, and now lives in Britain, had not seen Nelson Mandela since he was jailed for life in 1964.
