College Roundup : Chapman Soccer Team Blanks SCC, 4-0
Freshmen Brian Lou and Jeff Gagnon each scored a goal as Chapman College defeated Southern California College, 4-0, Friday in the consolation semifinal of the Far West soccer tournament at Chico State.
Mauricio Musiet and Greg Morales also scored for Chapman (1-1). Senior goalkeeper Keri Bello had four saves.
Southern California is 0-2.
Chapman will face Pacific Lutheran at 3 p.m. today for the consolation title. The Panthers won the consolation title in last year’s tournament in Seattle.
In women’s volleyball, Chapman opened its season with three victories in the pool play of the Fresno Pacific tournament.
The Panthers defeated Chico State (15-13, 17-15), Seattle Pacific (15-2, 15-8) and Lewis & Clark (15-6, 16-14), and will play the fourth-place team from the other pool in the first-round of Saturday’s championship play.
Susan Herman and Cyndi Rhone led Cal State Fullerton’s women’s volleyball to a pair of victories Friday in the second day of the Georgetown Early-Bird tournament at Georgetown University.
