Vanguards Defeated in Soccer Opener, 6-0
Seattle Pacific College spoiled Southern California College’s season men’s soccer opener, 6-0, Thursday night in the first round of the Far West tournament at Chico.
The tournament, held on the campus of Chico State, continues today when the Vanguards play Chapman in the consolation semifinal at noon.
Brian Fairchild and Bob McLaughlin each scored two goals for Seattle Pacific.
In other Far West tournament play:
Chico State 4, Chapman 1--After Chico State took a 2-0 lead in the first half, Chapman cut it to 2-1 when senior Mauricio Musiet scored seven minutes into the second half. But Chico’s Rick Acuna scored a second-half goal and assisted on another for the Wildcats.
