Community Colleges Set Weekend Football Scrimmages
The five Orange County community college football teams will scrimmage this weekend.
Orange Coast College plays host to Santa Monica today at 1. Saddleback plays host to Southwestern at 6:30 tonight. Golden West plays Citrus at OCC and Rancho Santiago meets El Camino at Santa Ana Stadium, with both scrimmages starting at 7 tonight.
Fullerton plays Long Beach at Fullerton District Stadium Saturday at 10 a.m.
No score will be kept; instead, each team will run series of 10 or so plays. There will also be work on special teams play.
The season opens Sept. 10 with Long Beach vs. Golden West at OCC and Fullerton at College of the Desert. Both games start at 7 p.m.
OCC, Rancho Santiago and Saddleback begin play Sept. 17, when OCC is at Rio Hondo at 1 p.m., Rancho Santiago is at Citrus at 7:30 p.m., and Saddleback is at San Diego Mesa at 7 p.m.
The teams start conference play Sept. 24.
