BYU Mistakes Help Wyoming Win, 24-14

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Randy Welniak threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third score Thursday night as defending champion Wyoming edged mistake-prone Brigham Young, 24-14, in a sloppily played Western Athletic Conference game.
Brigham Young lost starting quarterback Sean Covey to a mild concussion late in the first half, and backup Ty Detmer threw three third-quarter interceptions on consecutive drives.
Dave Edeen led the Cowboy defense with five sacks and one interception.
