Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : 1 Man Killed, Another Injured in Collision
An Anaheim man was killed early Thursday when a car in which he was riding was hit by a pickup truck, police said.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m., police said, when a Honda CRX traveling north on Beach Boulevard was struck by a small pickup truck traveling south and attempting to turn left onto Warner Avenue.
The car was sheared in two by the impact, said Huntington Beach Police Sgt. Carl Vidano. Victor R. Dejong, 22, who was thrown from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the car, Arturo Perez, 21, of Downey, was taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition with internal injuries.
The driver and a passenger of the truck were not injured.
