Manville Corp. said it settled asbestos-related insurance disputes with Allianz Underwriters Insurance of Los Angeles and American Special Risk of Atlanta, formerly Cranford Insurance. Allianz will pay Manville $5.5 million to settle all claims for policies issued from July, 1981, to July, 1982. American will pay $375,000 to resolve claims from coverage for the preceding year. The payments, subject to court approval, will go to the Asbestos Property Damage Trust as part of a plan to compensate asbestosis victims. It so far has reached settlements exceeding $800 million.
