Pendleton Marine Killed in Shooting

A Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton was shot and killed Wednesday morning outside the San Onofre housing area on the northern part of the base.
Military police responded to reports of gunfire at 5:42 a.m. and found the Marine shot in the back, according to base spokesman Lt. Gene Browne. The Marine was pronounced dead at 7 a.m.
The name of the victim was withheld until relatives are notified. Browne said no suspects are in custody, but Naval Investigative Services has a description of the assailant.
