Local News in Brief : 185 New AIDS Cases Reported in July

There were 185 confirmed new cases of AIDS in Los Angeles County during July, up from 163 reported in June, the county Department of Health Services said Friday.
The new cases increased the cumulative total of confirmed cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome in the county to 5,415 as of July 31.
Of those cases, 3,387 patients, 63% of all confirmed AIDS cases in the county, have died, according to the department’s monthly report.
July’s total included 179 adult and six pediatric cases.
