South Korea’s Moon Sung Gil won the World Boxing Assn. bantamweight title with a technical decision over defending champion Khaokor Galaxy of Thailand in a fight in Seoul.
The fight was stopped in the sixth round when Moon suffered a bad cut over his right eye from a butt. The decision was made based on scores up to the fifth round.
Judge Medardo Villalobos of Panama scored it 49-48, judge Taeshi Shimakawa of Japan 50-49, and judge Silvester Abainza of the Philippines 50-45, all in favor of Moon.
