On the Pretensions of Eater-Writers

If you’re going to dump high-flying restaurant critic Ruth Reichl (as suggested in Calendar Letters, July 24), I’d like to suggest getting rid of Colman Andrews too.
I object to the way he uses his pathetic little column to publicly flog restaurants. I don’t think people should wait hours to eat, receive bad service, or any of the other inequities suffered by Colman and his friends. So don’t eat there again.
But it’s in bad form for The Times to provide a forum for Andrews’ very subjective voice to wreak justice; it all begins to sound a bit petty and vindictive after a while.
Can’t he just stick to regurgitating press releases?
