POP LP CHART : Steve Winwood Rolls to the Top
- Share via
Steve Winwood--star of records, concerts and Michelob commercials--is king of the pop charts this week as well. His “Roll With It” album eased into the No. 1 spot on the Billboard magazine pop chart, matching the success of the title song, which has ruled the pop singles chart for four weeks. After a fast start, heavy-metal Cinderella has ground to a halt; its “Long Cold Winter” has stalled at No. 12. The buzz in rap circles is that “Follow the Leader” is one of the best rap albums of the year, fueling a rush to record stores. After debuting last week at No. 82, it jumped to No. 33.
* Huey Lewis’ good-time, party pop/rock hasn’t lost its zing. His new album, “Small World,” debuted on the pop chart at No. 23--helped by his hit single, “Perfect World” (No. 13).
