A New Jersey state judge ruled Tuesday that Peter O’Toole can retain custody of his 5-year-old son during the school year. Superior Court Judge Alexander D. Lehrer ruled Tuesday that Lorcan O’Toole will live with his mother, Karen Somerville O’Toole, during school holidays in December and April and in the summer. The decision capped an occasionally vicious legal battle in Britain and the United States between O’Toole and the boy’s mother, who was never married to the actor but took his name.
