Conrad on the Palestinians
Paul Conrad has finally gotten to me. I didn’t mind his past anti-Israeli “cartoons”--such as the Star of David made of rifles. After all, they were comments, they were satire, they made points, which is what a political cartoon is supposed to do. And the situation these cartoons commented on certainly deserved comment.
But this cartoon went a little too far. It went beyond satire and it went beyond any conceivable finding of humor. Worse, it was just plain mean. Don’t editors have any say over his work the way they do over everything else that goes into the paper?
Conrad has won well-deserved Pulitzer Prizes for his work. But he should think seriously about putting humor back into his work and leaving political comments to the editorial and opinion writers who can take several paragraphs to explain them.
