Beverly Hills : Council to Change Meeting Site
- Share via
Beginning in September, the City Council will hold its twice-a-month meetings in portable structures at a parking lot north of temporary city offices on Foothill Road.
In addition, city departments housed in City Hall, at Santa Monica Boulevard and North Crescent Drive, will be moved to the temporary facilities on Foothill Road at 3rd Street on Aug. 8.
Some City Hall offices, including those of the city manager and council members, moved to the Foothill Road location last October when expansion of City Hall began. The remainder of the departments, including the city clerk’s office and Finance Department, are being moved to allow for the remodeling and restoration of the 57-year-old building. The project, which includes earthquake reinforcement, is expected to be completed by September, 1989, when all departments will move back into City Hall.
The City Council had hoped to move its meetings to the Beverly Hills High School Little Theater, but a conflict in scheduling with school activities would have meant a departure from the usual council meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
