Postal Workers Accused of Throwing Away Mail

NEW YORK — Eleven postal workers arrested on charges they tossed nearly 60,000 pieces of mail into the trash were trying to shave time off their work day, a prosecutor said.
The carriers, who were arrested Tuesday, were trying to “save a couple of hours a day of work,” Assistant U.S. Atty. Nicholas DeFeis said. The recovered mail will be delivered, officials said.
