U.S. Volleyball Team Sweeps Past Sweden

Outside hitter Jon Root had 13 kills as the United States Olympic volleyball team defeated Sweden’s Olympic team, 15-5, 15-8, 15-5, Monday night in Bakersfield.
The second match of the four-match series will be played at 7:30 tonight at UC Irvine’s Bren Center.
Monday night’s victory improves the U.S. record to 35-4 in 1988.
