Local News in Brief : Boyfriend to Be Tried
The stepson of a Long Beach newspaper executive Monday was ordered to stand trial for the attempted murder of his former girlfriend.
Bradley Ackerman, 23, stepson of Press-Telegram Chairman Daniel H. Ridder, did not look back at Julie Alban as she pointed him out in Municipal Court as the man who shot her June 8, leaving her paralyzed.
Ackerman has pleaded not guilty to shooting Alban, 22, in the back while she slept.
