An Irvine man riding a jet ski died after slamming into a boat on Lake Mojave, authorities said.
John Edward Pastel, 37, died at 9:09 p.m. Saturday at Bullhead Community Hospital in Bullhead City, Ariz., as a result of massive injuries to his entire body, said Susan Warner, a spokeswoman for the Lake Mead National Recreation area near Boulder City.
Pastel apparently was traveling north on the lake about 12:30 p.m. and approaching two boats head-on, Warner said. In an effort to avoid the boats, he veered left, but one of the boats turned right, colliding with Pastel.
