Mother Held in Death of 2-Year-Old Son
An East San Diego woman pleaded innocent Monday to child endangerment in the death of her 2-year-old son, who was burned in scalding water.
Creana Lewis, 24, was ordered held in jail on $100,000 bail by San Diego Municipal Judge Peter Riddle.
Lewis is also charged with inflicting corporal punishment with injury upon her son, John, who died Wednesday.
“The exact cause of death has not been determined yet, but he did suffer from second-degree burns on the legs,†Deputy Dist. Atty. Bonnie Howard said at the time of the boy’s death.
Bail review was set for Thursday; a preliminary hearing will be Aug. 8.
The woman’s two daughters, ages 3 years and 7 months, were taken to Hillcrest Receiving Home.
