Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Taft Principal Given New Administrative Job
John W. Bennett, principal of Taft Elementary School and a 27-year-employee of the Santa Ana Unified School District, has been appointed assistant superintendent for the district elementary schools division, district Supt. Edward S. Krass announced.
Bennett, who lives in Santa Ana, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cal State Fullerton. He served as principal at five other Santa Ana schools before he was assigned to Taft Elementary.
During the past five months, Bennett has acted as interim deputy administrator and acting assistant superintendent for the elementary schools division.
“Our elementary division has more than 20,000 students and is very important to the success of the district as a whole,†Krass said. “John’s intimate knowledge of the district in addition to his abilities makes him an excellent choice for this job.â€
