San Diego
Jose Lopez of San Diego became $5.8 million richer Saturday night when the six numbers on his Lotto 6/49 ticket made him the big winner.
Lopez came forward Monday afternoon to claim the big prize but requested that lottery officials not release any information about him other than his name.
Besides the $5.8-million top prize, Lopez won $3,500 because another ticket he held had five of the six winning numbers. Lopez bought the tickets at a 7-Eleven on University Avenue, according to Eula Carroll of the lottery’s district office.
Lopez will receive more than $200,000 a year, after taxes, for 20 years, Carroll said. The winning numbers were: 6, 9, 10, 18, 35 and 41.
