Quarterback Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins...
Quarterback Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins is a potential state witness in the Oct. 10 racketeering and cocaine trafficking trial of former teammate Greg Roberts of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Tampa, Fla.
According to a transcript of an interview Williams voluntarily gave prosecutors and detectives, Williams said he wanted no part in the dealings in which he assumed Roberts was involved.
On police-intercepted phone calls, Williams talked with Roberts about sending him large sums of money. Williams told investigators he didn’t want to turn down someone he loved like a brother.
He said he talked with Roberts but never sent the money and never saw Roberts in any drug deals.
