Defensive back Herb Welch of the New York Giants has been lost for the season after suffering a knee injury in practice, the club announced.
Welch, a fourth-year pro from UCLA, was diagnosed as having sprained the cruciate ligament in his left knee and also suffering damage to the medial collateral ligament.
