Coast Guard helicopters rescued two men whose plane crashed into the ocean near Santa Catalina Island on Sunday, about 40 miles off the Southern California coast, authorities said.
A fishing vessel spotted the Cessna 150 going down about 15 miles northeast of San Clemente Island shortly after 5 p.m., said Lt. Nick Stagliano. Coast Guard helicopters found the men after a 35-minute search.
The men, Andrew Anderson of Orange and Allen Spencer of Westminster, both 28, were not seriously hurt.
