Local News in Brief : Tustin : Motorcyclist, 28, Dies in Embankment Crash

A 28-year-old man died early Sunday after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a rock embankment in Cowan Heights, California Highway Patrol officers said.

The victim was identified by an Orange County deputy coroner as Charles Buehinger of Tustin.

Buehinger was riding his motorcycle eastbound at “an excessive rate of speed” on Cowan Heights Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the embankment at the north edge of the roadway near Travertine Place about 3:10 a.m., a CHP spokesman said.

Buehinger was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was declared dead on arrival.
