Local News in Brief : Man, 45, Dies After Pickup Hits Car, Truck

A 45-year-old man was killed Sunday in Van Nuys when his pickup truck crashed into a parked car, careened into oncoming traffic and collided head-on into a 1 1/2-ton truck, police said.

The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was dead at the scene, Los Angeles police said.

He had been driving north on Woodman Avenue about 1:40 p.m. when his pickup struck the parked car near Califa Street, Officer Lesley McElroy said. The pickup ricocheted off the car and headed south into oncoming traffic, where it hit the truck, she said.
